Serenity

You may have heard this prayer before, the “Serenity Prayer.” It has become associated with Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and also with several self-improvement associations. The Serenity prayer itself though came from an American theologian of German origin, Reinhold Niebuhr (1892–1971). He first came up with the prayer in 1934 and there have been several versions since.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

The reason it has become so popular and adopted by so many is that it helps you grow while addressing problems you can control and letting go of what you cannot. It is incredibly wise and succinct.

I find in my own life that this is a wonderful prayer as it helps me in all the areas it says so clearly! You can apply it to anything. I hope it helps you too. I love its simplicity and its broad application!
