When I was in fourth grade, I loved my German teacher at boarding school. He was a big guy like my dad and very kind and gentle. He had bright reddish blond hair and a nice friendly smile. His face is a little fuzzy to me now. :)
One afternoon, he asked our class what songs we knew in German. As other students shared their songs, I said, 'Major Tom,' by Peter Schilling. I had heard the song a year prior and got my babysitter to record it for me.
My teacher laughed and said that I was a little too young for that. I then offered 'Tannenbaum' and 'Edelweiss,' both of which I had sang plenty by that age. He nodded and said, "That's good."
Now I'm old enough. : D
