When I was in college, I explored a lot. I came across as indecisive at times to some because I did not want to commit to one subject alone. In many ways, I wished I could be as focused as other students and our teachers were, dwelling on one idea or one concept alone and be fulfilled in that. I met and studied with many who were very clear that they were going to be the doctors, lawyers and business managers and magnates of our generation. In the passionate ones, I felt inspired by their enthusiasm for the stages that lay ahead.
For me, it has been different. I have many talents. I combine both a scientific mind and an artistic one. I have a love of and curiosity for both art and science. Yet exploring alone is not enough. One must express, I have found. In this realm, one must have a mindset and framework from which one sees the world. Limitations help in creating by setting a framework and also through opposition. For me, the one that binds is a designer's. While I love film and I love now launching my author career and creating stories, a designer's mindset is what allows me to do so - happily and well.
Why? A designer has a clear love of form and beauty and at the same time is disciplined enough to achieve things within a framework. I find that framework very helpful for me to actually set goals and achieve them. My early wanderings and explorations provide the fuel and inspiration to create with.
In terms of design, so far I have primarily created things for print, web and mobile via graphic and web design. A few things have been big...but now I would like to delve into much bigger worlds! Design that impacts people's lives - improving them and combines that love of beauty and form with functionality. If you can imagine it, you can create it.
Thus I think too that I can harness my love of physics in early years from high school to match it with design to come up with some creative solutions as well.
Change happens I have found in my experience, when I make a wish. Say it aloud. Like the princess inspired the little boy in "The Neverending Story." I hope in telling you my goals and wishes that it inspires you too to take action in your own life to live more fully, more joyously. So make a wish and say it aloud with confidence. Again and again. And let that passion lead you to do great things and be great things. Worthy of your life.
